The mandate
First internal operations hire at a rapidly scaling AI company. Partner with the CEO and CTO on hiring, financial performance, strategic initiatives, customer expansion, and the operating systems needed to scale the business.
Key responsibilities
- Own the hiring process as the company grows from a small team to approximately 20–25 people over the next 6–8 months.
- Manage company financials, P&L, costs, margins, and weekly business-performance reviews.
- Lead high-priority initiatives such as customer expansion, new vertical launches, and research projects.
- Build internal operating systems and processes from scratch.
- Coordinate across engineering, research, and customer-facing teams to unblock priorities.
What you bring
- Approximately 2–4 years of operating experience, ideally at an early-stage startup or in management consulting.
- Strong generalist problem-solving skills, ownership, and the ability to execute ambiguous projects independently.
- Comfort using coding agents and AI tools to solve operational problems.
- Evidence of commitment and sustained tenure; frequent short stays are a concern.
- Must work full-time in person in San Francisco; relocation support is available.

Full-time; 5 days in office in Dogpatch, San Francisco. Equity: approximately 0.15%–0.25%. H-1B and O-1 transfers/sponsorship are available. Tools include AI/ML tools, coding agents, Python, Excel, and PowerPoint. Interview stages: initial screen, panel interviews, onsite, and work trial.
